UNITED SYNAGOGUE AND BOARD OF DEPUTIES TO HOST FIRST INTERFAITH SEMINAR
The United Synagogue’s Community Development Group (CDG) together with the Board of Deputies are to host a joint interfaith seminar entitled Communities of Faith: Building Communities on Tolerance and Diversity. The seminar, on Wednesday 22nd February, will bring together lay representatives from US synagogues engaged in interfaith activity.
Representatives from thirty different synagogues will attend the seminar organised by Samuel Klein – United Synagogues’ Resources & Development Manager, and Miriam Kaye - Board of Deputies’ Interfaith Officer. The event is the first in a series of interfaith seminars that the Board aims to facilitate across the communal spectrum. These seminars will provide an opportunity for the community to explore and share interfaith initiatives.
When asked about the significance of this event for the United Synagogue Samuel Klein said: “The aim of the event is to develop a network of committed lay members at a local level involved in interfaith initiatives. We hope to increase the level of communication, efficiency and responsiveness to this important work across our organisation, thereby responding to current developments as a unified United Synagogue community. We are delighted to be working together with the Board of Deputies on this project.”
Miriam Kaye added: “This seminar marks a significant juncture in our respective areas of work. By bringing together US interfaith activists to share good practice, we hope to provide some grounding for the good work that is being carried out.”
