CLAYHALL SHUL APPOINT NEW RABBI

The United Synagogue is delighted to announce that Rabbi Nissan Wilson has been appointed as the new Rabbi at Clayhall Shul in Ilford. Rabbi Wilson was elected by an overwhelming majority at a meeting of the community last week. Rabbi Wilson will begin his appointment at the end of August.
Rabbi Wilson commented: "The Clayhall community is vibrant and warm and my wife and I are excited about becoming part of the Kehilla. I look forward to working together with the Honorary Officers and Board of Management and I am sure that we will see the community go from strength to strength."

Rabbi Nissan Wilson
Rabbi Nissan Wilson was born and raised in North Manchester.
After completing four years of study in Gateshead Yeshiva, he married and moved to Jerusalem. Following a number of years of further study, during which time he gained Semicha from both Rabbi Zalman Nechemya of the Jerusalem Rabbinate, and from the Ohr Yosef Institute for Advanced Halacha, he took up a position at Ohr Somayach, Jerusalem.
At Ohr Somayach, he lectured in philosophy and contemporary Jewish issues, and worked as a staff writer for the OhrNet online Torah magazine and as a team member of Ask The Rabbi, in which capacity he responded to hundreds of questions from people of varying backgrounds across the globe.
In 2004, Rabbi Wilson returned to England to join Dayan Ehrentreu’s pioneering Kollel Beis Aharon in Edgware. Whilst in the Kollel, Rabbi Wilson developed and delivered a broad range of social and educational programmes to adult audiences in North West London.
In the last year, Rabbi Wilson has also been involved in teaching both formal and informal Jewish studies classes at Immanuel College in Bushey and London Jewish Girls High school, as well as lecturing in contemporary Halachic issues at MST College in Hendon.
Rabbi Wilson is married to Edna (formerly of Sunderland and Netanya) and they have three children, Yaakov (5), Yitzchak (3), and Shoshana (1).
