US Chesed's philosophy is based upon the Jewish notion of 'Gemilut Chasidim'. We educate the Jewish values behind all our projects based on our firm belief that learning should lead to action.
Together with the London School of Jewish Studies, we have organised a variety of educational events in our communities which focus on our Jewish obligation to be socially responsible, and we offer plenty of practical ideas for action.
We have worked with Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue on a Chesed weekend, which included two educational sessions on the Shabbat and a fun family activity on the Sunday.
We have also been involved in a course at the Chigwell Learning Centre (L'Chaim), called 'Can Jews Save The World?' and the '21st Century Chesed Course' at the LSJS.
The modern world bombards us with complex global ethical questions never imagined by previous generations. How can our ancient Jewish sources guide us in acting good before the meta-issues of third world poverty, climate change, and trade injustice? Can we discern a unique Jewish voice that speaks to the ethics of modernity?
We design courses with the LSJS where we teach Jewish Responsibility with key Rabbis and educators, and learn from Jewish and non-Jewish activists who are making a difference on the front lines of social action.
We can tailor make courses for your community - just be in touch!
