US Cemeteries

Plashet Cemetery,

Opened in 1896, known as the “Trade Unionists Cemetery". Past secretaries of the cigars union and costomongers union are buried in the cemetery. On 6th May 2003 386 tombstones were vandalised.

Famous people buried in te cemetery include the following:-

Sir John De Villiers - Knighted by the British Government for his work in connection with the Venezuelan-Surinam frontier negotiations also the librarian and deputy keeper of the printed books and head of the Map Room at the British Museum.
